Attached below is this year's required summer reading assignment. Every student is expected to select at least one text to read over the summer, and each grade level has a choice of two engaging texts from which to choose. Students will take a 25-question reading comprehension assessment within the first two weeks of the school year, and there is also an extra credit opportunity delineated on the assignment sheet. The second page of the document has directions for students to access the school library's SORA collection as an option. This list is also shared with the Family Literacy Center, who typically make copies available through their collection as well.
We advise students who will be enrolled in two English classes next year to select the higher of the two grades for the summer reading assignment, and the affected teachers will coordinate grading in the fall.
Students who are enrolled in AP Language, AP Literature, or the URI course cluster will have a different summer reading assignment, which will be communicated to them by their respective teachers.
